How long does a cruise with lunch take?
The lunch Cruise falls in the window between 11.00 and 15.00. Three variants are most common:
- Hour and a half: the short canal circuit with a sandwich lunch on board, the most booked option for a business group.
- Two hours: space for a more extensive lunch with hot dishes and coffee after.
- Three hours: the entire canal belt with a walking lunch, suitable for a day program.
Lunch on board does not fit under an hour and a half, because boarding, serving and disembarking already fill that time. For a cruise without food, the private cruise in Amsterdam ready.

The lunch form determines the required sailing duration and the type of boat. These four book guests most often:
- Sandwich lunch: luxury sandwiches, soup and fruit, distributed from a central dish. Fits on every boat and on every sailing duration.
- Lunch buffet: hot and cold dishes on a buffet table, where guests themselves boast. Requires a saloon boat or passenger ship with fixed tables.
- Walking lunch: small dishes in rounds, keeping the company moving around. Works well with a network character.
- High tea: sweet and savory snacks with tea and coffee, as a light afternoon variant from 14.00.

On a tour boat you share the table with strangers and the departure time is fixed. At Event op het Water, only your company sails along, which changes three things.
The departure time follows from your calendar instead of from a timetable. The route is not fixed, so the skipper adjusts the speed to the desired duration and to the embarkation and disembarkation point. The conversation on board remains within the group, which makes the difference between talking through and being silent at a business lunch.

How much does a cruise with lunch in Amsterdam cost?
The bill consists of the cruise fare and the lunch package. The cruise fare includes the boat, the skipper, the service and unlimited beer, wine, soft drinks, coffee and tea.
- Sailing from 1.5 hours: from € 39,95 per person incl. VAT
- Sailing from 3 hours: from € 57,95 per person incl. VAT
- Sailing on the IJ from 4 hours: from € 69,95 per person incl. VAT
The lunch arrangement comes on top of that. A sandwich lunch is lower than a buffet lunch with hot dishes. Because a lunch cruise lasts shorter than a dinner cruise, the total price per person is usually lower than with an evening program on the same boat.

Four fixed boarding locations are spread across the center. The choice follows from the route and the type of boat:
- Amsterdam Central Station: Prins Hendrikkade 33A, for guests arriving by train
- Anne Frank House: Prinsengracht 267, in the middle of the canal belt
- Rijksmuseum: Museum bridge, near the museum quarter
- The IJ: De Ruyterkade 14, in front of the passenger ship

What time does a lunch cruise leave?
The departure falls between 11.00 and 14.00. You decide the exact time yourself, because the boat sails privately and does not follow a timetable. A departure at 12.00 is the most booked.
What's the difference with a dinner cruise?
The lunch cruise lasts shorter and falls during the day. In daylight, the facades, the bridges and the wharf cellars are visible, which falls away on an evening cruise. A lunch requires one and a half to two hours, a served dinner at least 2.5 hours.
From how many guests is a private boat with lunch possible?
The minimum is 10 guests. The open sloop takes 10 to 40 guests, the saloon boat 10 to 70 and the passenger ship 40 to 250. For smaller companies there are separate tickets at fixed sailing times.
Which lunch fits on an open sloop?
A sandwich lunch or a walking lunch. The open sloop has no fixed tables, as a result of which a buffet with hot dishes will not work. For a lunch buffet, choose the saloon boat with a table arrangement.
Do the Skippers speak English?
Okay. The Skippers will explain the route in English if you inform them in advance. This is useful for a mixed group of Dutch and foreign guests.
Does the lunch cruise also sail in winter?
Okay. The saloon boats are permanently covered and heated, the open sloop receives a canopy in case of rain or cold. In winter, daylight is at its best around noon, which makes the lunch cruise attractive.
Can lunch turn into an afternoon program?
Okay. Boarding and alighting is done at different locations when the route allows. A cruise from Amsterdam Central Station to the Rijksmuseum follows a museum visit in the afternoon.
