This is the first choice you make in december, and it determines the character of the drink more than the route.
An afternoon cruise leaves around three o'clock and sails into the twilight. You start at daylight along the Gravestenenbrug and the Waag, and towards the end the lights go on everywhere. Useful if the company is going to eat somewhere afterwards, or if there are colleagues who do not want to stay late.
An evening cruise leaves after working hours and is dark from start to finish. That is the most attractive option: the canals of Haarlem are & #8217;quiet in the evening, the yards and facades are illuminated and the contrast with the heated boat is great. If you want to make a full year-end with food, a longer evening cruise works better than a short one.

Stay Warm on board
The objection that always comes first: sailing in december, doesn't it get cold? In practice, that is not easy, and that is in these points:
- Canopy and heating. The hood closes completely and the sloop is heated, so it remains pleasant inside even in Frost.
- Hot drinks included. Coffee and tea are included in the standard rate. Mulled wine or hot chocolate can be booked and suits this time of year better than cold beer.
- Dress in advance. Put in the invitation that a jacket is wise. Anyone who wants to look outside in between wants to do so comfortably.
- Shorter is fine. One and a half to two hours is often enough in winter. A long sit works better in June than in december.

Snacks, music and decoration
- Food on board. From snacks to tapas on board or a more elaborate Christmas dinner, all freshly prepared and adapted to dietary wishes.
- Extra drink. Champagne or cocktails to end the year, or bubbles with a toast from the management.
- Own music. The bluetooth speaker is free to use, so you put together the Christmas playlist yourself. A singer or dj can be booked.
- You can bring your own garlands, lights or a theme like wrong Christmas sweaters. Come a quarter of an hour earlier to set up the sloop.
- Room for a speech. Ask the skipper to lie still, then everyone can understand the annual overview or the thank you.
How much does a Christmas drink cost in Haarlem?
The rate is per person and moves with the sailing duration. Boat, crew, catering team and the entire bar are within that amount, VAT included.
- 1.5 hours: € 32 per person
- 2 hours: € 39 per person

- 3 hours: € 53 per person
Example: twenty-five colleagues who sail for two hours come out around € 975 including VAT and all drinks. Snacks, mulled wine and entertainment are budgeted separately. There is one invoice and no post-calculation on the consumptions, which saves in the administration for a business booking. Getting off at the Nieuwe Gracht
The boat is on the Nieuwe Gracht 80, heart of the city center and a few minutes from the Grand Place. From Haarlem station you can walk there, convenient for colleagues without a car. When should I book for december?
As early as possible. December is the busiest month of the year and the Thursday and Friday nights leave first. Start in september if you are stuck on a specific date; for a weekday afternoon cruise, booking later is usually still possible.
Isn't it too cold to sail in december?
No. The sloop sails with the hood closed and heating, so it remains pleasant on board. Hot coffee and tea are included in the rate and mulled wine can be booked. A jacket is useful for those who want to go out in between.
How many colleagues can join?
Ten is the lower limit, Seventy the maximum per sloop. We divide larger sections into coupled sloops, together accounting for two hundred men. If you are above that, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Utrecht offer ships with more capacity.
How much does a Christmas drink cost on the boat?
Count on € 32 per person including VAT at one and a half hours, increasing to € 53 at three hours. Boat, crew, catering team and the full bar are included. Snacks and extra’s are separate from it.
Can we eat on board?
Okay. Snacks, tapas or a more extensive menu are freshly prepared and adapted to dietary requirements such as vegetarian or halal. Please indicate this when applying, then the kitchen will take it into account.
Do we get one invoice for the whole drink?
Okay. You will receive one invoice including VAT for the complete package. The consumptions are not counted, so the amount in the quote is the amount you pay.
