A roadshow loses participants in travel time. Utrecht limits that loss, because the city is located in the middle of the country and Utrecht Centraal is the largest railway station in the Netherlands. Invited guests from Groningen, Maastricht and Zeeland come together at Utrecht at one point.
The boarding locations are located on the edge of the city center, within cycling and walking distance of the station. For guests travelling by car, the A2, A12 and A27 motorway junctions surround the city. Two levels of scale for a roadshow in Utrecht
Utrecht has no middle ground. The canals in the center are narrow, and the bridges are low, which means that only sloops sail there. Larger ships sail outside the center. This separation determines the design of the programme:
- Up to 40 guests: an open sloop through the canals of Utrecht, from 1.5 hours, with the Oudegracht and the wharf cellars as scenery.
- From 40 guests: a passenger ship or event ship across the Amsterdam-Rhine canal, from 4 o'clock, with space for technology and catering.

What fits on board a roadshow boat?
A sloop and an event ship differ greatly in what the program can handle. This distribution avoids surprises on the day itself:
- Speaking without a microphone works on the sloop, because the boat sails electrically and the group is close together.
- Screen and sound system places Event on the Water on the passenger ship and the event ship, where power points and a covered interior space are present.
- Stand arrangements and demo tables only fit on the large ships, where multiple decks are available.
- Catering walks on every boat, from snacks on the sloop to a walking dinner or BBQ on the event ship.
- Heavy equipment requires loading and unloading at the quay, which is agreed in advance with the sales department.
- Theme dress and corporate identity material applies the crew before the guests come on board.

The boarding location follows from the sailing area. For the canals you leave in the Center, for the Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal and the Vecht from the Rooseveltlaan.

- 116 Roosevelt Avenue: departure point for the Amsterdam-Rhine canal, the Vecht and the Kromme Rijn

The price starts from € 29,95 per person incl. VAT for a canal tour of 1.5 hours. That amount includes the boat, the skipper, the service and the drinks. For a large group on the Amsterdam-Rhine canal, a rate of € 55.95 per person applies.
Why don't big ships sail through the canals of Utrecht?
The canals in the center are narrow and the bridges are low. Only open sloops up to 40 people fit there. The passenger ship and the event ship therefore sail over the Amsterdam-Rhine canal, outside the city center.
What is the shortest sailing duration for a business program?
The open sloop sails from 1.5 hours, which is the shortest option and fits into a tour schedule with multiple appointments in one day. The large ships sail from 4 hours, because the route over the Amsterdam-Rhine canal is longer.
Can we sail through the city center with more than 40 guests?
Yes, by dividing the group into several sloops. Two sloops together transport up to 80 guests through the canals. The boats then sail the same route in succession, with their own skipper and service by sloop.
Is a roadshow on the water also possible in winter?
Okay, all boats are covered and heated. The passenger and event ships are permanently covered. The open sloop gets a canopy when the weather calls for it, allowing the program to continue.
Does the roadshow also sail past the Dom Tower?
The canal route leads through the heart of the city center, along the wharf cellars of the Oudegracht. The Dom Tower is visible from the water at several points. The skipper adjusts the route to the duration of the program.
How far in advance do you book a roadshow in Utrecht?
For the large ships in high season applies an application period of at least 8 weeks. You can often book an open sloop within two weeks. Confirmation of the date will follow within 24 hours.
