A family day that starts in the city and ends by the sea
If you are looking for a location in The Hague, you will end up with two types of places: something in the center or something on the beach. You have to choose, and whoever misjudges it has the whole family in the car afterwards to drive to the coast.
You don't have to do that from the water. The refreshment Canal connects the city center of The Hague with the Port of Scheveningen, so the sloop sails from canal houses to dunes without anyone having to change. For a company with small children and older guests, this saves the most difficult part of the day: moving.

How long do you want to sail?
With a family day, you usually first determine how much of the day you have lost, and only then where. Four common lengths:
- An hour and a half. A short trip through the city canals along the Veerkade, the Mauritskade and the Binnenhof. Enough for an afternoon of coffee and pastries, and short enough for guests who can't sit still for long.
- Two and a half hours. The route through the refreshment Canal to the coast. This is the sailing to Scheveningen, with the dunes along the way and the Pier at the end. The most popular choice among families with children.
- Three hours. Across the Trekvliet towards Voorburg and Leidschendam, past Old Country Estates and green banks. Calm water, little hustle and bustle, space for an extensive lunch on board.
- Three and a half hours or more. For a reunion or anniversary where the day really is the day. Combine the city with the coast and plan a moment for speeches or a photo opportunity along the way.
One thing to know: the Hofvijver near the Binnenhof is not navigable. You sail right past it via the connecting canals, with a view of the Binnenhof and the Mauritshuis, but you can't go through it.

Rent a family day location in The Hague
If you put locations for a family day in The Hague next to each other, you will mainly see halls and beach pavilions, with providers selling an activity program that you can run at any location. Those programs usually start around thirty euros per person, but then you still have to eat and drink.
It's already on the sloop. Skipper, service, unlimited beer, wine, soft drinks, coffee and tea: one rate, one invoice, including VAT and without additional calculation of consumptions. Where the family gets on board
You leave from the Bierkade, in the middle of the city and by tram or car fine to do. Parking is possible in the immediate vicinity, which saves when part of the family comes from afar.
If you are sailing towards the coast, you can also get on or off the coast in consultation. The Haringkade 103 and the Paxhaven both are located at the Port of Scheveningen. Useful if the family day by the sea ends with a snack on the beach. For the Trekvliet route, boarding at De Pijp is an option.

Can you sail from the center to Scheveningen?
Okay. The refreshment Canal runs from the city centre through the dunes to the Port of Scheveningen. Count on two and a half hours for that route. You can disembark at the port, so that the family can continue the day at the beach.
How many guests fit on it?
One sloop carries 10 to 40 people. If you want to sail with a maximum of a hundred men, then several sloops will go out at once, each with its own skipper and its own bar. Above a hundred it is not possible in The Hague.
How much does a family day in The Hague cost?
Rates range from € 39.95 per person for an hour and a half to € 64.95 for three and a half hours, including VAT. Sloop, skipper, service and unlimited drinks are incorporated in it. The food is budgeted separately.
Is a boat suitable for children?
Yes, if there is an adult who watches them. Children's life jackets are available on request. Keep in mind that a sloop is more compact than a large ship: walking around during the cruise is possible to a limited extent.
What happens when the weather is bad?
The tour continues. The hood of the sloop closes and the heating is on, so rain does not change the schedule. In the event of a storm, an alternative date will be contacted.
Can you eat on board?
Okay. From snacks and a lunch buffet to a walking dinner or a bbq. Everything comes from our own kitchen and dietary requirements or allergies are taken into account if you provide them with the application.
How far in advance should I book?
For one sloop, a few weeks ahead is usually enough. If you want several sloops at the same time, reserve more spacious, because then more boats must be free on the same date. Within 24 hours you will know if it works.
