De lunchvaart valt in het venster tussen 11.00 en 15.00 uur. Drie varianten komen het vaakst voor:
- Anderhalf uur: de korte grachtenronde met een broodjeslunch aan boord, de meest geboekte optie voor een zakelijke groep.
- Twee uur: ruimte voor een uitgebreidere lunch met warme gerechten en koffie na.
- Drie uur: de volledige grachtengordel met een walking lunch, geschikt voor een dagprogramma.

De lunchvorm bepaalt de benodigde vaarduur en het boottype. Deze vier boeken gasten het vaakst:

Op een tourboot deel je de tafel met onbekenden en ligt het vertrektijdstip vast. Bij Event op het Water vaart alleen jouw gezelschap mee, waardoor drie dingen veranderen.
Het vertrektijdstip volgt uit jouw agenda in plaats van uit een dienstregeling. De route ligt niet vast, dus de schipper past de vaart aan op de gewenste duur en op de op- en afstapplek. Het gesprek aan boord blijft binnen de groep, wat bij een zakelijke lunch het verschil maakt tussen doorpraten en zwijgen.

Vier vaste opstaplocaties liggen verspreid over het centrum. De keuze volgt uit de route en het boottype:
- Amsterdam Central Station: Prins Hendrikkade 33A, voor gasten die met de trein komen

- Rijksmuseum: Museumbrug, bij het museumkwartier

Wat is het verschil met een dinervaart?
De lunchvaart duurt korter en valt overdag. Bij daglicht zijn de gevels, de bruggen en de werfkelders zichtbaar, wat op een avondvaart wegvalt. Een lunch vraagt anderhalf tot twee uur, een uitgeserveerd diner minimaal 2,5 uur.
Vanaf hoeveel gasten is een privéboot met lunch mogelijk?
Het minimum ligt op 10 gasten. De open sloep neemt 10 tot 40 gasten mee, de salonboot 10 tot 70 en het passagiersschip 40 tot 250. Voor kleinere gezelschappen bestaan losse tickets op vaste vaartijden.
Welke lunch past op een open sloep?
Een broodjeslunch of een walking lunch. De open sloep heeft geen vaste tafels, waardoor een buffet met warme gerechten niet werkt. Voor een lunchbuffet kies je de salonboot met een tafelopstelling.
Spreken de schippers Engels?
Okay. De schippers geven de toelichting op de route in het Engels wanneer je dat vooraf doorgeeft. Dat is bruikbaar bij een gemengd gezelschap van Nederlandse en buitenlandse gasten.
Vaart de lunchcruise ook in de winter?
Okay. De salonboten zijn permanent overdekt en verwarmd, de open sloep krijgt een overkapping bij regen of kou. In de winter is het daglicht rond het middaguur op zijn best, wat de lunchvaart juist aantrekkelijk maakt.
Kan de lunch overgaan in een middagprogramma?
Okay. Op- en afstappen gebeurt op verschillende locaties wanneer de route dat toelaat. Een vaart van Amsterdam Centraal naar het Rijksmuseum sluit aan op een museumbezoek in de middag.
