Which boat is suitable for a wine tour?
Drinking wine on the water is something that hardly plays with beer and snacks: you need a stable surface and it must be quiet enough to understand each other. That makes the choice of boat type more important here than with other arrangements.
Private boat
Open luxury sloop
(10-40 people)
The electric boats and open sloops sail both open and covered. Ideal for a cruise or party on the boat. Enjoy the beautiful canals of Amsterdam with music while enjoying a snack and a drink. The luxurious open boat fits effortlessly through the narrow Amsterdam canals, past centuries-old buildings and under the lowest bridges. An electric luxury boat sails quietly and on green electricity.

Wine tour or wine tasting: what you get on board
This difference is important enough to mention in advance, because in Amsterdam both forms are offered and they look similar in the search results.
One guided wine tasting it revolves around a vinologist or sommelier who sails along, explains each wine and sets the pace. That is a program with a speaker, usually for fifteen to thirty people because one supervisor can no longer cope.
One Wine Tour at an event on the Water works differently. There is no vinologist. What you do get: a selected package of red and white wines on board, tasting notes on paper with each bottle, and waiters who pour and keep track of the glasses. You decide the pace, the order and what the conversation is about.
Who does that work better for? Companies that want to taste and especially want to catch up, without anyone speaking every ten minutes. And groups that are too large for a guided tasting. If you are looking for someone who explains the wines, then you are better off at a specialized wine shipping company; that is fairer than promising you something here that is not there.

& # 8220; We have had a very nice baby shower with my family and friends. As a pregnant woman have sailed through the canals of Amsterdam. Luckily we had beautiful weather and the baby shower decoration was beautiful. We really enjoyed the delicious freshly prepared BBQ, tasty snacks and delicious chilled drinks for an unforgettable baby shower.
Really recommended to go boating with an Event for my pregnant girlfriend as an expectant mother at one of the baby shower locations with an extensive high tea on, for example, a stylish salon boat as a baby shower location!”
Wine and food: what goes with it?
Drinking wine without anything added becomes heavy after an hour. These combinations work best on board.
- The most chosen combination, and not without reason: cheese and wine carry each other and nothing needs to be kept warm.
- Luxe platters. Charcuterie, olives, nuts and bread that remain on the table throughout the cruise.
- Hot and cold Spanish dishes that go around in rounds. If you want to put the accent on that, check out the tapas boat Amsterdam.
- Walking dinner of meergangenmenu. When the food becomes more important than the wine, you look at the dinner cruise Amsterdam.
- Vegetarian, vegan, halal and allergies are coordinated in advance. In the application, indicate how many people are involved.

Larger groups than 30 people
This is where a wine tour at Event op het Water stands out. Most wine cruises in Amsterdam stop around thirty guests, because the offer is built around one escort and one boat. If your company is forty or sixty people, you fall into that offer outside the boat.
Up to 70 people go on the saloon boat. Above that, Event switches on the Water to the passenger ship on the IJ, up to 250 people. The arrangement remains the same: selected Wines, tasting notes and serving that pours. For one business events with a drink character, that is often exactly what is wanted.

How much does a wine tour in Amsterdam cost?
The price consists of the cruise and the wine package. The cruise starts from € 39.95 per person incl. VAT for one and a half hours and increases to € 69.95 per person for four hours. In it are the boat, the skipper, the catering staff and the regular bar with beer, wine, soft drinks, coffee and tea.
The wine arrangement comes on top of that and depends on the selection. When comparing quotes, pay attention to two things: whether the amount mentioned is inclusive or exclusive of VAT, and whether tourist tax is still calculated separately. In this market, both happen regularly, so that an offer that looks lower ends up being higher.

Getting off in Amsterdam
Which location applies depends on the route and the type of boat.
- Anne Frank House, Prinsengracht 267. In the middle of the canal belt, the most chosen starting point for a wine tour.
- Amsterdam Central Station, Prins Hendrikkade 33A. Useful when your guests come by train.
- Rijksmuseum, Museum Bridge. Suitable if the cruise connects to a museum visit or program in Zuid.
- Het IJ, De Ruyterkade 14. Departure point for the passenger ship with large companies.
Deviations can be made in consultation with the sales department. Getting on and off does not have to be done in the same place.

Wine tour Amsterdam: tasting the canal belt as a backdrop
You can drink wine anywhere, but on the canal the view changes between the first and last bottle. You sit inside on a saloon boat with fixed tables, the roof open as soon as possible, and no one comes to ask if anything is desired because the boat is yours.
No vinologist, but a selection with tasting notes and service that contributes. You can book from 10 people, up to 70 on the saloon boat and up to 250 on the passenger ship. You decide the route, the duration and the wines yourself.

Frequently asked questions about
the Wine Tour in Amsterdam
Does a vinologist or sommelier sail with it?
No. At an event on the Water, no vinologist sails along. You will receive a selected package of red and white wines with tasting notes on paper, and serving pouring. You decide the pace and order. If you are looking for a tasting with guidance and explanation per wine, then a specialized wine shipping company is a better choice.
How much does a wine tour in Amsterdam cost?
The cruise starts from € 39.95 per person incl. VAT for one and a half hours and increases to € 69.95 per person for four hours. In it are the boat, the skipper, the catering staff and the regular bar with beer, wine, soft drinks, coffee and tea. The wine arrangement is offered separately.
How many people can I book?
A private boat can be booked from 10 people. The saloon boat carries up to 70 people, the open sloop up to 65 and the passenger ship up to 250. This allows you to accommodate significantly larger groups than on most wine cruises in Amsterdam, which stop around thirty people.
Which boat is best suited?
The luxury saloon boat. It is always covered and heated, has fixed tables where glasses remain and a toilet on board. In a number of saloon boats, the panoramic roof can be opened. On an open sloop there is no fixed table arrangement, which is more difficult if you want to put several wines next to each other.
Can you choose the wines yourself?
You can indicate preferences when applying, for example, predominantly red or white, or a selection around one country or grape. The final composition is recorded in the quotation, so you know in advance what will be on board.
What do you eat?
A cheese board is the most chosen combination, followed by luxury platters with charcuterie, olives and bread. Tapas or a walking dinner are also possible. Dietary requirements such as vegetarian, vegan or halal are coordinated in advance.
Can a wine tour also be done in winter?
Okay. The saloon boat is always covered and heated, so sailing is possible all year round. In good weather, the panoramic roof opens. Only in extreme weather conditions will an alternative date be sought in consultation.
