Two types of Family Day on the Utrecht water

Utrecht has two faces from the water, and they ask for another day. Inside the canals you sail through narrow canals that only a sloop can handle. Outside the city there is wide water on which ships of hundreds of people fit. Which of the two suits you depends mainly on how big the family is.

De korte grachtenvaart, 10 to 40 guests

This cruise starts in the center and goes over the Oudegracht, past the wharf cellars that you can only see well from the water. On the way you pass Park Servaasbolwerk and you look out on the Dom Tower. A popular variant sails towards Zuylen Castle, past the historic De Klop shipyard. Count on one and a half to three hours. The long canal cruise, 40 to 700 guests

From forty guests, the day shifts to the wide water. You sail about the Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal towards Oud Zuilen and Breukelen, or across the Vecht to the Loosdrechtse Plassen. A third option is the Kromme Rijn, where city and nature alternate. These tours last from four hours, so there is time for a complete program with food, speeches and drinks. Renting a family day location with most providers means that you get a room and fill in the rest yourself. Do your own shopping, stand behind the bar yourself, clean up yourself. At events on the Water it works the other way around: the boat comes with a skipper, catering staff and a kitchen that prepares the food.

What you arrange is the guest list, the date and the wishes. What we arrange is the rest. How much does a family day in Utrecht on the water cost?

Utrecht is the cheapest city in the offer of events on the Water. A canal cruise starts at € 29.95 per person including VAT. That amount covers the ship, the crew, the catering staff and what goes through that day in beer, wine and soft drinks.

In comparison, the family day packages at the farms and activity parks in the province are usually between € 36 and € 40 per person, and then drinks or job rentals are often added.
